At our Christmas gathering our honorary member George Sandwith recognized his grand daughter Claire with a Paul Harris Fellow for her generous support of Rotary and the community:  We congratulate Claire and thank her for her service!

For the past decade, Claire who was born and raised in New Westminster has been a dedicated volunteer with the Rotary World Help Network, handling inventory, barcoding, sorting, palletizing, and operating warehouse equipment as needed. She has repeatedly participated in Rotary fundraising bike rides, completing distances from 50 to 120 km, and has supported additional community efforts such as the Legion poppy drive, Salvation Army bell-ringing, and serving lunches for the Union Gospel Mission.

Claire is known for her kindness, problem-solving abilities, and willingness to help others, including neighbours and family members. Professionally, she has worked part-time in the Mountain Equipment warehouse for 10 years and has spent two years as a provincial probation officer after earning her criminology degree from Douglas College.

The Paul Harris Fellow award is a recognition by Rotary International for either a $1000+ donation or contribution of service.
It is named after Rotary's founder, Paul Harris, and honours both Rotarians and community members who have made significant contributions to the club and the community, or whose life embodies the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self".
Recipients receive a certificate and a pin.
